dc.description.abstractThe NPK fertilizer production unit at the Fertial-Annaba complex emits gaseous discharges into the atmosphere, contributing to air pollution. Our focus is on understanding the gas scrubbing process in this unit, where seawater is used as a liquid to absorb pollutants before being released back into the sea. The degree of pollution of these waters is determined by analyzing various parameters (temperature, pH, suspended matters (SM), fluoride, Kjeldahl nitrogen and ammonium ions, oils and greases, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5), chemical oxygen demand (COD). The results indicate that gaseous discharges do not pose a problem in terms of atmospheric pollution, whereas monitoring the degree of pollution of liquid discharges indicates that they require rigorous treatment before discharge. Improved liquid effluent treatment is based on technical and operational solutions
