dc.description.abstractBiodiesel is a renewable fuel made from animal fats and vegetable oils. Heterogeneous nanocatalysts are increasingly used in its production due to their efficiency and ability to reduce processing costs. This study investigates the use of waste cooking oil to produce biodiesel, by developing in a first step a solid and stable catalyst. To this end, a mixing plan application was considered. In the second part, biodiesel production was optimized using response surface methodology (RSM). A maximum yield of 97.1% was achieved with an ethanol/oil ratio of 10.83:1, a catalyst concentration of 3% and a reaction time of 3 hours. The biodiesel produced was also found to conform to ASTM D6571 standards. So, it can be said that the synthesized mixed oxide catalyst has a high efficiency for the production of biodiesel from waste cooking oil. The catalysts were characterized by various techniques, including FTIR and SEM-EDS.
