Design and Improvement Study of a Fuel Cell « Conception et Etude d’Amélioration d'une Pile à Combustible »
(ECOLE NATIONALE SUPERIEURE DE TECHNOLOGIE ET D’INGENIERIE - ANNABA - (Ex ESTI), 2023) BELALIA Aimen Bahaa Eddine; YOUNSI Soheib Ilyes; MALLEM Nassima (Encadrant)
This work contributes to the study of converting chemical energy into electrical energy through fuel cells, specifically Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFCs). The objective is to conceptualize and model a fuel cell and investigate the effects of temperature and humidity variations on its performance and efficiency. The results of this study demonstrate that as the temperature of the fuel cell increases within its operating range of 60-80°C, there is a decrease in the generated potential. The optimal temperature for performance is found to be 60°C. Additionally, an increase in humidity leads to a slight decrease in electrical potential, while a decrease in humidity results in a negligible increase. The simulations conducted on a fuel cell operating at 70°C within an effective range (100 A/m²-10000 A/m²) indicate a maximum power density of 6566.065999 W/m², a potential of 0.892287231 V, and a maximum efficiency of 602083152.
